Meet the Team
DIGS Dynamos
Ashley (AJ) Justice; DIGS General Manager
AJ was on the opening team of DIGS in 2022. She holds a forestry degree from Purdue and brings years of experience in the garden business, including a year at Bluegrass Farms, five years at OEG and four years at Brehob Nursery. In 2025, AJ stepped into the DIGS GM role.
Fun fact about AJ: She worked at the Indianapolis Zoo.
Deanna DeLong; Garden Center Associate
Deanna joined our team in 2025, and she’s a rockstar. She’s been in the garden for years, but she’s enjoyed a diverse career and came out of retirement to play in the dirt with us here at DIGS. There’s literally no task she cannot vanquish and she goes non-stop from the minute she arrives.
Fun fact about Deanna: She can parallel park an 18-wheeler.
Gina Campbell; Garden Center Associate
We were thrilled to have Gina join the DIGS team this season. A longtime avid gardener, Gina is a ray of sunshine, super knowledgeable and freakishly strong. Gina is also a dog whisperer, so if you bring your pup to DIGS, you can count on him or her getting some extra love.
Fun fact about Gina: She’s a wiz at Magic the Gathering.
Kiely Hofstetter; Garden Center Associate
Kiely comes to DIGS with loads of experience in the green industry, as she’s also worked as a sales associate for Get Dirt Rich. Since she also has a background in the music industry, she’s vibin’ every day and keeps us jamming while we dig in the dirt. She lives in the ‘hood and has been a DIGS customer since Day One.
Fun fact about Kiely: She’s a poet!
Hannah joined the DIGS team in 2024 and quickly moved up the ranks to Seasonal Annuals and Residential Sales Design Expert. If you’ve stopped to admire gorgeous porch pots at IUI or at various businesses around the city, you’ve likely enjoyed her work. Hannah is always finding new ways for us to creatively mix in seasonal annuals in containers around the yard, and is ready to jump in and lend a hand.
Fun fact about Hannah: She used to own her own houseplant shop.

Hannah Flege; Annuals Design Expert
Addie Burton ; Garden Center Associate
Addie’s in her second season at DIGS and she’s a plant nerd from way back. She’s our early morning one-woman watering crew, and loves the peace and quiet of being alone with the plants and the sunshine. This woman loves cats, and has fostered several! She’s goofy, fun and full of ideas.
Her superpower: She’s tall enough to reach things on high shelves!
Teresa McCurry; Garden Center Associate
Teresa joined us at DIGS after retiring from a long career at the IUPUI library. A master gardener, she now revels in spending long days among rows of plants instead of stacks of books. She has settled comfortably into her garden center groove and happily reports that she does not miss deadlines!
Her superpower: Connecting with our customers.
Mary Brock; Garden Center Associate
Mary comes to us from the Hoosier Environmental Council and we’re darned glad to have her. A longtime fan of DIGS, she’s an avid gardener and a get-it-done kinda gal. When we asked her what kind of plant she would be and why, she said, “A ponytail palm because I can definitely identify with the curl and wave patterns!
She loves DIGS for the plants, the people and the vibes.
Amy Lapka; Designer/Social Media Specialist
Amy is the designer behind the vision of DIGS and she continues to create wildly unique and compelling visuals and reels to showcase all the fun and funky stuff. We would be lost without her. When she’s not creating for DIGS, she lends her considerable design talents to other Indy-area businesses through her freelance business, Mudpie Creative.
Fun fact about Amy: She’s a badass in Jiu Jitsu.
Heath Hurst and Travis Hurst;
Managing Partners
Heath founded Heath Outdoor in 2009. In 2017, his brother Travis came on board to help run things and, in 2019, they decided to also open a garden center. Hence, DIGS. Heath is a long-time Cottage Home resident, so you’ll often see him puttering in the DIGS yard (although we think he just likes an excuse to drive the forklift.)
Fun fact about Heath and Travis: They will each tell you they’re their mom’s favorite.
Karen Kennedy; Marketing Director
Karen helps us tell our stories here at DIGS (and lord knows, we’re a LOT!) Although she’s a little on the fancy side, and maybe doesn’t have dirt under her nails like the rest of us, she loves a good time and plants and other pretty things, so she fits right in. While you might not find her hauling mulch around, you will definitely find her lurking amongst the plants snapping pix and video of folks vibing here at DIGS!
